Stadt Land Fluss

Collaborative exhibition at Studio 7 in Cologne with Daniel Zakharov. A photographic study of cities and urban landscapes.

You can only grasp a city when you move through it. And this is exactly what  Zakharov and Dörning do: they roam the city. And they do so on foot. They are flâneurs. They explore urban spaces on foot, stroll through the streets, take photographs and reveal aspects that others fail to notice. They delve into the hidden layers of the city. Here they not only perceive the cold, steely, asphalted nature of the city, but also its poetry. The flaneurs open up different milieus and living environments, and through their explorations it becomes clear where the city is worth living in and where it isn't. Their method of experiencing the city is like a reading of the city. The city walkers act as urban diagnosticians, so to speak, who draw conclusions about social structures and cultural patterns by photographing the built environment.

This exhibition was realised with the kind support of NIMM FILM and Studio für Gestaltung / Sülzbier. We would like to thank them for their great support.
