Memories are like that: they don't just fade with time, but they change, disintegrate into fragments. Sometimes only an impression, a colour, a pattern or a face remains. These fragments occasionally even mix with other memories.

Memories are strongly linked to visual images. Photography as a memory medium can evoke, alter, distort or even prevent memories. Photographic images have the power to influence the process of perception of past events. Sometimes they can even serve as a substitute for actual memory.

What happens to memory media when they are forgotten or lost by their original users, and thus taken out of their context, ultimately losing their sole purpose?

It is precisely these images that I discover on internet platforms or at flea markets that serve as my creative inspiration. I cut them into abstract compositions, carefully free the objects from their original context of meaning and use them to ask questions about the essence of photography.
